Good morning everyone,
2 Corinthians 7:1 says, "Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God." You've probably heard the phrase, 'if it feels good, do it!' The problem with that statement is it doesn't take into consideration any reverence for God. It stems from a very selfish viewpoint. By you standing on His promises, you begin to see that your selfishness is something that needs to be controlled and the only way to do that is to let Him purify you! See, the closer we get to God, the more we become eager to do what is good. Titus 2:14 tells us that Jesus Christ gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for Himself a people that are His very own, eager to do what is good. One of the definitions for contaminate is to make impure or unsuitable by contact. That holds true whether you refer to the body or the spirit. Transformation begins when you allow Jesus Christ to become your purifier! Anytime you cut away the things that have hindered you in the past, there is going to be a resistance that you will need to give over to the One who can remove it for good! Your thinking will become clearer. Your heart will start to feel things like He feels. Your ways will become His ways! A lifetime of hindrances will become your past contaminates and His victories! Let Him begin the process by you giving Him glory and honor in everything you do!
Your brother in Christ,
