Endurance-Life is a marathon and not a sprint! Hebrews 12:1-2

Good morning everyone,
As I write to you this morning, pray for several of my co-workers today because it is winter wonderland here in Missouri and they will be traveling.  As I was sitting here putting my thoughts together for the devotional, I thought of the phrase that I have heard many times before:  Life is a marathon instead of a sprint!  Hebrews 12:1-2 specifically addresses this with these words:  'Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a hugh crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily hinders our progress.  And let us run with endurance the race that God has set before us.  We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from start to finish.'  If you are still pumping blood through your veins and you are still sucking air through those nostrils, God is not through with you yet!  You are and always will be the apple of His eye because He created you and He did not mess up when He breathed life into you.  So be thankful for who you are and praise Him for giving you the opportunity of continuing to be in the marathon.  If you find yourself in a situation that literally stinks and light at the end of the tunnel seems dim at best, thank Him that He chose you to endure through it because He chose you for the job.  If you can do that, thankfulness will be your gift back to Him.  Remember, He endured the cross and that cross was for you and me!
Your brother in Christ,
p
