Fightened and confused-Luke 1:29-33

Good Sunday morning to all,
As we continue to look at the anticipated birth of Jesus, we pick up in Scripture in Luke 1:29-33:  Confused and disturbed, Mary tried to think what the angel could mean.  "Don't be frightened, Mary," the angel told her, "for God has decided to bless you!  You will become pregnant and have a son, and you are to name him Jesus.  He will be very great and will be called the Son of the Most High.  And the Lord God will give Him the throne of His ancestor David.  And He will reign over Israel forever; His Kingdom will never end!"
Frightened and confused probably don't begin to describe Mary's emotional state.  A 'power' much greater than her own would be required to take her through the chain of events that were to follow.  Mary was very young, poor, female--all characteristics that, to the people of her day, would make her seem unusable by God for any major task.  But God chose Mary for one of the most important acts of obedience He has ever demanded of anyone.  You may feel your ability, experience, or education makes you an unlikely candidate for God's service.  Don't limit God's choices.  He can use you if you trust Him.  Even though God's favor rested on the mother of our Savior, much pain would come to her.  Her peers would ridicule her; her fiance' would come close to leaving her; her son would be rejected and murdered.  But through her son would come the world's only hope, and this is why Mary has been praised by countless generations.  So the more insignificant you think you are, really the more God can use you because you don't have 'you' in the way!  It takes a 'Big Faith' and a 'Big Trust' to realize that God can use you in a mighty way just like God used Mary!  And the more we depend on Him, the more will be revealed that a 'Mighty Power' was required to accomplish what seemed impossible!
Your brother in Christ,
Paul
